Power of attorney for India from the UAE

There is no apostille in the UAE. The Indian Consulate is the route, and it requires you in person.

How it works from the UAE

We draft the document for the Indian state concerned and send it ready to print with a signing sheet. Book the attestation appointment, sign in front of the officer and collect the attested document. Courier to India takes two to three days.

In India the document is stamped and, for a property sale, presented to the Sub-Registrar. If your spouse is a co-owner, both of you sign. For those in the Northern Emirates the Dubai Consulate has jurisdiction.

What is different for NRIs in the UAE

  • Do not sign beforehand; the officer must witness the signature.
  • A special power for one transaction is safest.
  • UAE notary deeds need foreign ministry and mission attestation and are rarely the simpler path.

Step by step from the UAE

  1. Free review call

With only ninety minutes between Dubai and India, calls happen in normal office hours. We read your papers on a power of attorney for India first, so the call is about your options and not a repeat of the facts.

  2. Authority from UAE

Where a representative must act for you in India on a power of attorney for India, you sign before the consular officer at the Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate in Dubai, generally through the outsourced attestation centre. We draft the document and send signing instructions.

  3. Work in India

In India, the attorney holder pays stamp duty within three months of the document arriving and registers it where the state requires. Updates for clients in the UAE go by email and WhatsApp with scans of whatever is filed.

  4. Result and handover

At the end you receive a scan of the stamped power of attorney, and a revocation deed is prepared once the work is finished. Originals are couriered to your address in the UAE if you need them.
