How it works from Oman
The first decisions are who invests, and how returns will come back. An individual NRI can invest on either basis. An Omani company can invest only under the foreign direct investment route, at or above a certified fair value, in sectors open to it. We then obtain digital signatures and director numbers, reserve the name and file for incorporation; the certificate, PAN and TAN issue together.
After incorporation the bank account is opened, subscription money received through banking channels, shares allotted and the filing made to the Reserve Bank. We draft the shareholders' agreement, the resident director's terms and a bank mandate that requires your approval above set limits.
What is different for NRIs in Oman
- A late or missed foreign investment filing is a FEMA contravention; it is easily avoided.
- Trading in land and a few other activities are closed to foreign investment.
- Put transfer pricing and service agreements in place if the two companies will deal with each other.
Step by step from Oman
Free review call
Muscat is ninety minutes behind India, so calls happen in normal office hours. We read your papers on an India entry first, so the call is about your options and not a repeat of the facts.
Authority from Oman
Where a representative must act for you in India on an India entry, you sign before the consular officer at the Embassy of India in Muscat, or use an Omani notary with apostille. We draft the document and send signing instructions.
Work in India
In India, we reserve the name, file incorporation, obtain PAN, TAN and GST, open the bank account and report the foreign investment. Updates for clients in Oman go by email and WhatsApp with scans of whatever is filed.
Result and handover
At the end you receive the incorporation set, statutory registers and a compliance calendar. Originals are couriered to your address in Oman if you need them.
