When an Indian worker dies in Kuwait, the heirs need a legal heirship certificate or succession certificate from India, legalised for use in Kuwait, and a power of attorney, before dues and compensation are paid. We obtain the correct certificate, complete the chain of attestation and coordinate with the Embassy's welfare section until the money is received.

How it works from Kuwait
The employer, the insurer or the Kuwaiti court will specify what it accepts. A legal heir certificate from the Tehsildar or equivalent authority is quicker and is usually enough for indemnity and wages. Court-awarded compensation or larger sums may need a succession certificate from the district court. Every heir is listed: widow, children, and parents, with a guardian for minors.
The certificate is attested by the state Home Department and the Ministry of External Affairs, legalised by the Kuwaiti mission and translated into Arabic. The Kuwaiti death certificate travels the other way, attested for Indian use, for claims on deposits, insurance and property at home, which we take up together.
What is different for NRIs in Kuwait
- List every heir; an omission can invalidate the certificate.
- Compensation for death is generally not taxable in India.
- Keep the Civil ID copy, employer's details and last salary slip.
